  • RCS Youth Affairs – Appointment of the Youth Director as Regional Co-ordinator for Asia         

Our RCS Youth Affairs Director, Dhanesh Basil has been appointed the RCS Regional Co-ordinator for Asia which comprises Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Hong Kong and Japan for year 2020 to 2022. Dhanesh Basil was formerly serving as the Regional Youth Co-ordinator - Asia for the past 2 years. The RCS Youth Affairs committee have been actively involved in societal activities to put RCS of Malaysia in the forefront of RCS globally. Congratulations Dhanesh and keep up the good work.

                                                                                  

  •                             RCS Christmas Sacks CSR Project

We will be organising a CSR Project for the orphanages and old folks homes. Look out for announcements through e-mail, WhatsAppp and Notice Boards.

 

  • Standard Operating Procedure for The Royal Commonwealth Society during the CMCO period from 27 October 2020 until further notice   

The Royal Commonwealth Society of Malaysia will be undertaking the following measures to safe guard the safety and health of ALL Members, guests and staff. ALL are required to strictly follow all conditions and terms imposed by the Government / Local authorities and the Council.

1.         The operating hours for the Royal Commonwealth Society of Malaysia are from 11.00am to 10.00pm until further notice.

2.         Last call for Food and Beverage order is 9.15pm.

3.         ALL Members and guest must leave the Club at 10.00pm as per the CMCO directives of the Government, failing which disciplinary action will be taken (subject to Council advice).

4.         Temperature check must be done using the device on Forehead and NOT the hand or wrists as per the Health Ministry’s directives at the Club entrance for ALL persons entering the Club.

            Any person with temperature more than 37.5 Celsius will not be permitted to enter the Club.

5.         ALL persons entering the Club premises MUST REGISTER at the Club entrance with QR code scanning through MySejahtera app OR with full name, Membership number and mobile

            number listed in the Record  Book. This is to enable contact tracing if someone tests positive for Covid-19.

             Handicap ramp will be closed / cordoned off as ALL Members and guests coming to Club must enter through the main entrance only.

             However, we will allow person(s) in a wheelchair to use the ramp.

6.         ALL persons entering the Club premises must wear face mask.

            Anyone who refuses to wear face mask will be prohibited from entering the Club. (For those who do not have mask, please purchase it at the entrance for RM1.00 per mask and wear the face

            mask immediately).

7.         Anyone with Quarantine Tags will strictly NOT be allowed entry into the Club premises.

8.          Children aged 12 years and below are not permitted into the Club until further notice.

9.         Before entering the Club premises, please use the hand sanitiser provided at the entrance of the Club.

10.       All tables are placed two metre apart. Only a maximum of 2 persons are allowed to sit per table OR as instructed by service staff.

11.       Swimming pool, Karaoke, Sports activities and facilities will not be permitted until further notice.

12.       Please maintain physical distance at all times in the Club premises. Please refrain from grouping.

  • Operation Hours for Sports Bar and Bistro

Please note the Operation hours for the Sports Bar is 4pm to 10pm.

Bistro is open for Lunch at 12pm to 2.30pm and then for dinner from 6.30pm to 10.00pm.

Last call for F&B order is 9.15pm.

 

  • Reciprocal Clubs that are unable to receive RCS Members

Please be informed the following Clubs have recently notified us they are unable to receive Reciprocal Members until further notice due to the recent spike of Covid-19 cases.

  • Resolution passed at the 58th Annual General Meeting

  A resolution to amend Rule 9 (c) of the Constitution was approved at the 58th AGM held on 23 August 2020. The amendments have been submitted to the ROS for consideration and approval. Amendments can only be enforced after getting approval from the ROS.

Amended Rule 9 (c) as follows

The annual subscription for Fellows and other members shall be payable advance on 1st January each year:-

   (i)         Provisional Member RM720.00 p.a.

(ii)        Resident Fellow RM720.00 p.a.

(iii)       Non-Resident Fellow RM480.00 p.a.

(iv)       Associate Member RM720.00 p.a.

(v)        Affiliate Member RM720.00 p.a.

(vi)       Absent Member RM120.00 p.a.

(vii)      Corporate Member RM3,000.00 p.a.

The Council shall have the discretion to determine the rates of annual subscription from time to time as may be deemed fit by the operating expenses of the Society and / or the Estimates of Income and Expenditure thereof.

                    

  •        Minimum Spending

The amendments which were passed at the 57th AGM were approved by the ROS on 22 November 2019. These amendments were implemented on 01 January 2020.

However, in an attempt to mitigate the problems and inconveniences faced by Members during this RMCO period, the Council has decided that the minimum spending charge for the 1st Quarter (Jan to Mar 2020) will be consolidated with the minimum spending charges for the 2nd Quarter, 3rd Quarter and the 4th Quarter (April to December 2020). Members are now allowed to spend Quarter 1 to Quarter 4  (Jan – Dec) @ RM360.00 by 31 December 2020.

Penalties charged for the non-compliance of the minimum spending previously have been reversed into F&B account.

 

  •     Volunteer for The Disciplinary Board

As per Rule 7(c)(i) of the Rules of the Royal Commonwealth Society, we would like to invite Fellows of the Society to volunteer and serve on the Disciplinary Board. Your participation to serve in this capacity is greatly anticipated and appreciated.

  •        Firearms 

Please note that carrying of firearms into the Society’s premises is strictly prohibited.

 

  •      New Rates for Room Accommodation at the Club House

Please note that the rate for the Superior rooms is RM145.00nett and the rate for the Deluxe rooms is RM165.00 nett with immediate effect. Bookings of the accommodation rooms provided by the Society is to be used for the sole purpose of lodging only. No unlawful or immoral activities should be carried out while occupying such rooms. Room guests found to have abused this privilege shall be ordered to quit the room immediately and the booking Member shall be disciplined in accordance with the Rules of the Society.

 

  •      Membership

Members are reminded that, persons who have been expelled, are under suspension and declared persona non grata are not allowed into the premises of Royal Commonwealth Society of Malaysia. They are also not allowed to be invited as guests and signed in by members.     

 

  •      Facilities in Tudor Bar / Sports Bar

Please note that facilities provided in the Tudor Bar / Sports Bar is exclusively for the use of RCS Fellows, Members of Reciprocal Clubs and Affiliated Room Guests only. However, the Council has allowed the Youth Members to use these facilities but they are not allowed to sign in their guests.

 

  •      Youth Participation in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programmes

Please be informed that ALL Youth Members must participate in at least 3 CSR Programmes yearly organised by the Club or the RCS Youth Section. Failure to do so will lead to the termination of their Youth Membership.

 

  • Obituary

Our deepest condolenses and sympathies to the Family of Mr Harvey Gerard Krishnan, MN4880, on his demise on 12 October 2020. He will be missed at RCS.
